Jack Mormons/Mormon Apologetics

Recently, I was kicked out of an LDS chatroom. The mormon says we NEED works to be saved because in 2 Nephi 23:25 says "23For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do". The Bible says that even our righteous acts are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The Bible says we are saved by grace through faith, not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9). They ask what my motives are to be in there and I clearly state, I am there to engage in apologetics with them and figure out their religion, but they can't even explain that to me. It contradicts the Bible and the arguments they have for their works justifying them don't work.

One work they say we need is to be baptized to be saved, but that is disproved by the man next to Christ on the cross, who was not baptized but Christ still said He would see him in Paradise (Luke 23:43). They also say that repentance is a work but in the Webster's 1828 dictionary, repentance is defined as: the pain, regret or affliction which a person feels on account of his past conduct, because it exposes him to punishment. This sorrow proceeding merely from the fear of punishment, is called legal repentance, as being excited by the terrors of legal penalties, and it may exist without an amendment of life. Repentance is NOT a work but an emotion. They do not understand that our works come after our repentance and giving our lives wholly to Christ. In James 2:20 it states that faith without works is dead, meaning that with true repentance, we should be honored to keep His Commandments, we should love witnessing, evangelizing, working unto God. That is what the passage implies, not working up to salvation. We need to show the mormons that their religion is false and we need to pray and pray for another reformation in the American church and pray that God will awake modern pastors to preach about sin, law, judgement, AND mercy. Without such will be meaningless false conversions and many will be cast into Hell. We cannot let these souls be sent to Hell without a fight!!!

The LDS church, founded in 1830 because Joseph Smith had the authority from God, because the authority had been lost. From the "missionary" I just spoke with, the authority comes from obeying His Law and living right and that is why Paul had the authority. In Ephesians 3:7-9 defines that Paul was able to minister because of the grace of God given to him, saying he was the even LESS of the least of all saints. If I am correct, the Protestant Reformation happened in 1517 by Martin Luther, who had authority from God. Therefore, the authority has never been lost as it is in His grace, making no need to a "restoration" of authority of His Church.
